About
My name is Mari Pfeiffer. I’m a freelance writer based in Southern California. In 1997, I left a successful career as a full-time reporter and producer to become a freelance writer and pursue my creative interests. Moving from the comforts of a job with a good, steady salary and benefits to the uncertainty of freelancing was a terrifying yet exhilarating experience. Naturally, I’m drawn to others who have chosen a similar path.
I started The M Report to post updates on my most recently completed projects (and if I can, works in progress) as well as articles about the kind of work I do. Whether I’ve written a magazine story about how parents should deal with the schoolyard bully or the script for a downloadable walking tour, this is where I’ll mention it first.
As a writer, I am constantly meeting interesting people. I don’t always get hired to write about them, but I do confess to having a burning desire to tell everyone I know about them. So in addition to writing about my own work, The M Report will feature stories about interesting and unique small business owners and creative professionals. I figure, if I can’t get a story idea published in a major publication (and gosh, they’re disappearing by the droves these days!), I might as well go out and write about them myself. As time passes, I hope to add as much audiovisual content to this blog in the form of podcasts, slideshows and videos as I can. Guest bloggers are also welcome!

Thanks for visting The M Report. And if you’d like to submit a story idea, contact me.
