Last September, I got the chance to meet artist Filippo Ioco and watch him work on a couple of projects, including a body painting. While his work has appeared in major ad campaigns and high-profile publications, some of the work he is most proud of is his contribution to charitable causes such as
Operation Calendar, an organization whose annual calendar raises funds to help wounded veterans and their families. “This is the fifth year we have produced the Camouflage calendar,” said model Manuela Mezzadri, founder of Operation Calendar. “I feel privileged and honored to be able to show my support for our military members and their families. They certainly are deserving of any and all assistance that can be given to them, especially our wounded.”
Still shopping for the holidays? Looking for something a little naughty and very nice? Check out “Camouflage: PIN-UP 2010,” Operation Calendar®’s 5th issue. Fifty percent of this year’s proceeds benefit the Warrior Foundation.
Operation Calendar’s site has plenty of behind-the-scenes photos of Filippo painting models for the publication. You can also find out more about how this organization got started and what it does for troops who have returned home. Thanks Filippo and Manuela!
