Ever since I was little, I’ve been asking a lot of questions. And because I didn’t always get answers or the answers I wanted, I sometimes poked my nose in business where it didn’t belong. As a result, my father named me “mischief mari,” a name that has stuck with me to this day. Naturally, I became a reporter.

I started my career in journalism at Dow Jones & Co., first in New York, then in Tokyo, followed by a couple of years as a producer-reporter with CNBC Asia. I took a sabbatical from journalism in 1997 to pursue a master’s degree in screenwriting, and returned to reporting on a freelance basis in 2000. You can view some of work on my print & website portfolio page.

These days I’m combining my unique talents to write content for small businesses, creative professionals and non-profit organizations. As you’ll see on my copywriting page, I provide a wide variety of writing services including web copy, press releases, brochures and much more.

I also occasionally design very simple yet highly elegant websites like this one.

If you want to know what I’m up to these days, please visit my very interesting little blog, The M Report or follow me on Twitter.
